The original BrunnenFührer.ch (v. 2002) is a massive archive of over 200 fountains that effectively died in the desktop era. With broken links and no mobile optimization, this vital cultural data became inaccessible for people exploring the city in real-time.

The Solution

I designed a mobile application that turns this archive into an active utility. By introducing GPS-based discovery and smart filters—such as "potable water" or "dog-friendly"—the app serves as both a daily survival tool for residents and a cultural guide for tourists.

User-friendly and outdoorsy approach

Focusing on user-centered design, I redefined the information architecture to be "thumb-friendly" and high-contrast for outdoor use. The visual identity uses a fresh, modern palette to move away from the "database" feel and toward a lifestyle-app experience.
